Unser Basisclient 2.0 hat nun den finalen Status erreicht und kann in der Stadtverwaltung ausgerollt werden. Gerade in den letzten Wochen wurde noch viel Zeit in die Fehlerbehebung und in das Rundschleifen gesteckt. Dies gilt auch für GOsa. Gerade die neuen und dazu noch komplexen Funktionalitäten  wie der GOsa Infrastruktur Support Daemon und die neue mächtige ACL-Verwaltung in GOsa haben noch viel Aufmerksamkeit erhalten.

Nun geht es an das Ausrollen des Releases 2.0. Hier ist nun hauptsächlich unser MUV-Team (MUV = Migrationsunterstützung Vor-Ort) gefragt, die Referate bei der Einführung des BC2.0 bzw. bei der Migration von 1.1.x auf 2.0 zu unterstützen. Das erste Referat hat heute bereits einen LiMux - Verteilserver mit BC 2.0 erhalten. Weitere werden nun kontinuierlich folgen. 

Today I was looking for an alternative to OpenProj, which is used for PM by us, but has some restrictions e.g. in print options.

I thought there should be many different tools to replace Microsoft Project in an adequate manner. Very frustrating, there aren’t I tested nearly 20 tools, some web based, some native clients, even one Windows only software (Open Workbench) running under Wine. But none of them has more than a base set of functions and every tool is not able to create user friendly printoutsof large Gantt diagrams, scaled to one page.

So I think our OpenProj is the best choice for our requirements. …

Linux Softwareentwicklerinnen/ Linux Softwareentwickler zur Weiterentwicklung des LiMux Basisclients

Das Projekt (http://www.muenchen.de/limux) LiMux verfolgt die Einführung eines linuxbasierten Basisclients auf mehr als 10.000 Arbeitsplätzen der Landeshauptstadt München. Technische Grundlage des LiMux Basisclients ist die freie Linux Distribution Debian GNU/Linux.

Zur Unterstützung der Linux-Migration, insbesondere im Bereich der Basisclient-Entwicklung und -Integration in die bestehende Netzwerklandschaft, sucht das Projekt LiMux mehrere engagierte und einsatzfreudige Linux Softwareentwicklerinnen und Softwareentwickler.

Linux software developer for the LiMux basic client

The city of Munich is migrating (http://www.muenchen.de/limux) its desktop computers

(more than 10.000) from Windows to GNU/Linux. After preparations began in 2003, the city's

“basic client", a customised version of Debian GNU/Linux, is being deployed on a growing

number of PCs since fall 2006.

Interesting, this year’s IT trade fair SYSTEMS, which currently takes place in Munich, is the last after 40 years. The concept will be reorganized and next year there will be two more specialized events in Munich. See the press release.

So it is the last time the “Perspektive Open Source” is active, I think.

During the next hours I’ll get back from Malaga in Spain, where the OpenSourceWorldConference takes place at the moment.

Yesterday I introduced our WollMux to the interested people at the OSOR sub conference.

Very interesting (for networking reasons) was the spontaneous organized dinner together with nearly 20 people from public administrations in Europe. LiMux is still an interesting project for many of them and the wide range of Open Source and open standards already used throughout Europe shows, that we are not alone

We all agreed that growing this network between the administrations of different member states is a challenge, but will be an enormous success factor. So I hope to see many again at some of the next events (Brussels, …).

So heute wurde der Releasekandidat 14 für unseren Basisclient 2.0 erstellt. Wir sind nun definitiv beim Feinschliff angekommen.Als Kernel werkelt mittlerweile ein 2.6.26 unter der Haube. Dieser musste aber in der letzten Tagen noch ausgetauscht werden, da einige Versionen des Kernels Probleme mit der Hardwareuhr von Dell Notebooks haben. Dies äußert sich darin, dass die Notebooks zum starten eine ewigkeit benötigen. Teilweise booten sie nur, wenn man Events in Form von Tastatureingaben auslöst. Aber mit der letzten Version des 2.6.26 war auch dieses Problem behoben.

Präsentieren werden wir den aktuellen Releasekandidaten nächste Woche auf der Systems. Wir sind dort gemeinsam mit dem Auswärtigen Amt vertreten. Wer Fragen hat oder sich den Basisclient einmal snschauen möchte, kann gerne vorbeikommen.
